Richard B. (Ricky) Rood is a Professor Emeritus of Climate Science at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. Prior to that, he was a scientist and a science manager at the National Aeronautics and Space Administration. His recent research has been on the use of scientific knowledge in climate adaptation. He has been active in the practice of adaptation management using methods of scenario planning. In addition to his research publications, he is co-author, with Andrew Gettelman, of Demystifying Climate Models: A User's Guide to Earth System Models. He writes the monthly column Climate Blue for Michigan Today. His articles have appeared in The Conversation, Scientific American, and the Washington Post.
